League Bylaws
(as of Season 12)
-Fair Play Policy-
All coaches are expected to exercise fair play and follow a code of good sportsmanship at all times with all fellow coaches and league officials. This includes a firm ban on griefing and trolling. For the purposes of NBP, griefing pertains to the deliberate abuse of game aspects in unintended ways to harass (clock running, glitch exploits, etc.); trolling pertains to deliberately offensive, provocative or abusive language both in game and in other communications. Any coach found to be in violation of these practices will be warned one time about behavior and any subsequent offense will result in suspension or dismissal from the league. Reinstatement for fair play violations requires 100% vote of confidence to return.-Code of Conduct Policy-
Any coach found to be using any means to circumvent or violate the bylaws of the league will be immediately suspended or dismissed from the league, depending on the severity of the offense. This decision will be made by the president and commissioner and may only be overturned with a coaches vote supermajority (67%).
-League Structure-
NBP currently has two tiers of season play: Pro and Foundry Leagues. Both Leagues are separated into conferences: New World (UTC-08:00 to UTC-04:00)* and Old World (UTC to UTC+04:00)**recommended active time expectations
Each play period will allow a full 14 days for coaches to schedule and play their games, but rounds will advance as soon as all outstanding matches are played.
The Pro League will feature 32 teams in a 9 round season (7 divisional matches, 2 inter-conference matches). After Round 4 is the mid-season break/player promotion period (refer to transfer market policy). The remaining 4 games will be played once the mid-season break is completed.
The Foundry League structures is as follows: (20 New World teams and 16 Old World teams) that will complete a 9 round season (9 divisional matches).
At the conclusion of each season, up to 8 promotions and relegations will take place between the Pro and Foundry leagues. The bottom two Pro Teams/Coaches (standings 15 & 16) in each conference will automatically be relegated to Foundry League for the next season and replaced by the respective Foundry League Conference Finalists. Additionally, the next 2 Pro Teams/Coaches (standings 13 & 14) from each conference will have to play a post season resurrection game against the respective Foundry League Conference Semi-Finalists in order to keep their Pro spots.
-Scoring System-
NBP-Pro will utilize the in game scoring for Wissen round pairing. The final standings will be done utilizing overall record and 2-1-0 Win-Tie-Loss scoring (Tiebreaker: Total SPP; If the teams are still tied, a resurrection knockout match will be held as the final tiebreaker).
-Playoff Structure-
The Pro League postseason has the top 16 teams (The top 4 of each division based on league points) in a Resurrection style knockout tournament called the Nuffle Challenge Series. Initial round seeding will be split by conference 1 v 4, 2 v 3, 3 v 2, 4 v 1. Winners will advance and continue the knockout pairings. The NCS has the following exception to Ressurection play: If a player is killed in game during a match and the injury or armor dice result is "boxcars" aka two 6's then that player is dead permanently and win or lose the coach must fire the player at the games completion. Standard apothecary rules apply (i.e. if you save your player then he is not dead and does not need to be cut at the end of the game.)
-League Champion Policy-
-League TV Cap Policy-
Because we strive for parity we have instituted a Team Value Cap policy. Each season will start with a TV Cap that each team must be at or below in order to receive entry to the season. You must complete the first game of the season at the TV cap. After the first match is validated, you are free to be above the cap. The league TV caps will be as follows (dynamic to every 3 season cycle):- Season A 1000 TV - Mid-season cap 1350 TV*
- Season B 1450 TV - Mid-season cap 1700 TV* SEASON 12
- Season C 1750 TV - Mid-season cap 1850 TV
-Qualifying Team Requirements-
To enter season play, a team needs to be created fresh (1000 TV or no games played) and optionally leveled to the current season cap in the Developmental League (for replacements or future seasons). The following game limits apply:
- Season A*
- Season B - 8 matches
- Season C - 15 matches
*NOTE: In the event a coach fills a vacated slot, they will be eligible to play a number of dev games equal to the weeks already completed.
Any team exceeding the game limits will be subject to a 100 TV penalty to all season TV caps. Any external team that wishes to join NBP will be subject to a 100 TV penalty to all season TV caps.
-Inducement Policy-
During the inducements phase, the coach going second may spend no more than 40K out of treasury on top of what was granted via inducements. In the event this occurs, the opposing coach is to halt play before the kickoff.
-Developmental System-
The development system is a never ending open ladder competition that will exist to allow coaches to build teams to use in future seasons as well as for new coaches to start with teams at the Team Value (TV) cap. The development system will also exist for the purpose of rebuilding depleted teams for reintroduction to season play as well as for developing athletes for the transfer market. When requesting matches in the dev ladder, all coaches are required to announce in the discord server their intentions to spin the ladder and to find a partner for the match. This will prevent cross match ups or "silent spinning". Any unexpected pairing should be brought to the attention of league administration.
There is no ban on fouling in development games but fair play and good sportsmanship still apply. Any issues that may arise should be brought to the immediate attention of league administration for review.
- Transfer Market Policy-
A coach may elect to hire up to 2 players to their PRO team from any developmental team. One transfer is allowed during the mid-season break, or both can be utilized after the post-season (2 promotions are available during the mid-season break of every third season). The three forms of promotion are either a direct purchase, call up/recall, or a trade agreement.
After transfer your team must be at or below the the published TV cap.
You may sell or buy any number of players to and from other Pro teams. A Pro team is defined as a team that is playing in the current NBP-Pro League season and/or will play in following season.
Coaches may relegate a player from their pro team to a developmental team to make room for the transfer, but all Gold from this transaction must be zeroed.
(Developmental to Pro call ups ONLY) If a player's full price for transfer cannot be afforded, a coach may elect to sell another player at the same position (lineman for lineman, blitzer for blitzer) for a skilled player and only pay the difference in skills; or sell a different positional to buy a player from a developmental team, taking into the consideration the balance for the difference in position (if any) as well as the difference in skills. (see examples) (e.g. selling a skill-less Chaos Warrior for 100K and replacing him with one for 140K, net cost 40K GP; selling a skill-less beast man at 60K to replace with a single skill Chaos Warrior at 120K, net cost 60K GP). This is only available during the mid-season for a single player, only.
For the purposes of recall, a player with any Serious Injuries will not be accepted. (-MA,-ST,-AG,-AV or Niggling Injury)
A call up/recall trade sought by a Pro team from a different coach's development team is subject to the development team coach's acceptance.
Any team going Pro in the following season is not able to participate in any trade during the Post-Season Transfers.
For the purposes of transparency and to avoid manipulation, developmental to developmental transfers are not allowed. (A developmental to developmental transfer is defined as a transfer between 2 teams in the developmental league or a transfer between a developmental team and a Pro team that will not continue).
All trades will be conducted through an intermediate team to maintain consistency and transparency.
All transfers are subject to approval by league management. Premiums will be added to any transfer that meets the following: ≤ 5 SPP to level +10K GP; ≤ 3 SPP to level +20K GP (Pro acquisitions only).
All transfers are expected to follow the fair play rules and guidelines of NBP Pro. As such, all transfers will be approved or challenged at the discretion of the league administration. All proposed transfer must be submitted to the #transfer-market discord channel where coaches may challenge the transfer. Any challenged transfer will result in a majority vote (excluding the coaches involved) to allow or deny the trade.
-MVP Policy-
-Managed Game Policy-
In the event that a game can not be played due to scheduling conflict or unforeseen emergency, the game will be managed by the league to a 0 -0 draw with default MVPs. For the purposes of division standings, no league points will be awarded. League administration will have sole discretion over the outcome of any such games and will make a decision based upon all available information.
Nuffle Be Praised Pro has adopted the MVP rule from BB2016 rules with modifications, as follows: At the completion of a match, coaches are to submit 3 MVP nominees to the #mvp-nominations channel on the league discord. Awarded MVPs will be posted to the chat and assigned in game. Any coach declining to nominate MVPs will be left with the match default MVP.
-Managed Game Policy-
It is the expectation of the league that coaches will be active and respond to communications in a timely matter, proactively informing of any extended leave in advance to league administration.
Missing games is strongly discouraged and can result in dismissal from the league. Any missed games due to unavailability outside of 1 per season will result in dismissal from the league unless a valid reason is presented to league administration. Any coach in violation of this policy will automatically be relegated to the lower play tier.
For non-season play competitions, unresponsive coaches will be replaced at the discretion of the competition commissioner.
Absent coach matches will be managed by the sole discretion of the commissioner based upon all the information available.
-Concession Policy -
Under no uncertain terms will a concede be allowed. If a coach does concede, the match will be reviewed and a decision will be reached regarding managing the match (for season play only).
In the event of a concession in the dev ladder, either through technical error or deliberate choice, an additional 1 match penalty will be applied to both teams. If any coach disagrees with a league decision under the concession policy, the result may be overturned with a coaches vote supermajority (67%).
-Disconnect Policy-
We here at Nuffle Be Praised Pro understand that disconnections are an unfortunate part of online multiplayer games. To that end, we have developed a disconnect policy that we feel best addresses the issue. In the event of a disconnect, every attempt should be made to immediately replay the match or to schedule a replay of the match within the allotted time frame for the play period. All efforts must be made to replicate the initial match conditions (no changing of inducements or spending gold reserves for any reason) unless said changes are agreed upon before resuming play. In the event a replay is not possible or one coach declines a rematch, the outcome will be managed by the sole discretion of the commissioner based upon all the information available. If any coach disagrees with a league decision under the disconnect policy, the result may be overturned with a coaches vote requiring a 2/3rd majority. The president and commissioner will abstain from any vote of confidence to maintain legitimacy.
